Nobody knows Von Dutch (who didn't do anything worth to remember, apart from being the first to paint flames on a car), but then Britney and Paris start wearing his clothes and suddenly Von Dutch is thé thing among sixteen year olds 
But hey, let them be, we've all been sixteen once... I'd just like to have a shirt like this to piss them off

i too hate the whole von dutch fad but seeing as this website involves artists i am shocked that no one is aware of just who he was. Kenneth Howard:
he was a man that lived out of a trailer, he was an amazing painter and pinstriper. he was an originator of something that many people can say they take pride in seeing or doing. he did not collect much or any money at all for his work. he did not want a big success of his name, he did art only for the love of it.
to quote him in his own words:
"I make a point of staying right at the edge of poverty. I don't have a pair of pants without a hole in them, and the only pair of boots I have are on my feet. I don't mess around with unnecessary stuff, so I don't need much money. I believe it's meant to be that way. There's a 'struggle' you have to go through, and if you make a lot of money it doesn't make the 'struggle' go away. It just makes it more complicated. If you keep poor, the struggle is simple."
the clothing and all the unnecessary crap came much after his time. his family and those who possessed the name after he died are those that are profiting from it.
i myself do not own any inanimate von dutch object but being an artist myself i have a great respect for the person behind the name.
